LEARNING

At Happy Journeys, we understand that every step your child takes on their educational path is important, and we embed principles from an early age that will help to shape the extraordinary person they will become.

Our day-to-day learning approach is based on the teaching practices set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which includes the following seven areas of learning:

In The Moment Planning

“In the moment” planning is child led learning. When children are playing and selecting what to do themselves, they become very engaged. Whilst observing and interacting with children as they pursue their own interests, we use this to create powerful teaching moments. This effective approach leads to deep level learning and wonderful surprises occur daily.

We believe every child is unique and has their own learning style, and we want them to grow and prosper in the way that best suits them. So while we follow the principles of the EYFS, we also utilise the best of the Maria Montessori and Reggio Emilia teaching methods. We don’t believe a ‘one size fits all’ approach, and we don’t want to constrain our teaching by doing so.

As a crucial part of the daily routine, we provide children with free time to play, explore and make a (creative) mess! All of these bring out your child’s inner instinct, helping them to develop important life skills and preparing them for their future adventures!

Our curriculum and philosophy incorporate more than just education; we endeavour to teach social and environmental awareness, and place an emphasis on earth-friendly practices as well as healthy choices.

Nothing would make us happier, than to have each child leave us to continue their journey with a love for learning.
